Can you help?

We are looking for volunteers to help manage the beautiful Barton Community Orchard at Lark Rise Farm in Cambridgeshire.
The orchard was planted in 2019-2020 by CRT staff and volunteers after a successful fundraising campaign.
It has been diligently cared for by CRT staff member Bill Parkinson with the support of other CRT staff and volunteers, including Andy Edwards.
In August 2026, Bill’s seven years of custodianship of the orchard will come to an end. The CRT is now reviewing how the orchard will be managed going forward and would like to acknowledge Bill’s contribution and commitment over that period.
We are now looking to:
  • Establish a dedicated team of volunteers to care for and manage the orchard

  • Ensure the orchard continues to be a welcoming and valued community space.

  • Invest in appropriate equipment and infrastructure to support its long‑term sustainability

  • Host open orchard days and community events for the public

We would also like to thank all those who have sponsored trees so far and we continue to look after your trees with pride for future generations to enjoy.
CEO Danielle Dewe said: “The CRT has every desire to ensure that the original spirit of the orchard is maintained and we are incredibly grateful to those who have made contributions to Barton Community Orchard to date.
“As plans develop, we will ensure these are clearly and transparently communicated to everyone involved.”
If you would like to volunteer to help manage the orchard, please contact our volunteering team at [email protected].
