  • Your legacy. Still growing.

Your legacy. Still growing.

Thanks to the kindness of people remembering the Countryside Regeneration Trust (CRT) in their Will, we have championed biodiversity and regenerated farming landscapes and woodlands for the benefit of the natural world. For 30 years, the CRT has worked tirelessly to promote, protect and regenerate our land and all life on it, and to raise awareness of the importance of nature to our wellbeing. But, there is still so much more to do and now, more than ever, it is vital that we continue to be advocates for farmland biodiversity.

A legacy to the CRT is an incredible way to make sure your values, and the work that is most important to you, can live on for many decades to come.

Making a Will is one of the most important things we can do during our lifetime

By giving a gift to the CRT, you will help us continue to inspire people to understand and appreciate the importance of wildlife to farming,
food, the natural environment and everyone’s wellbeing.

Making a Will is the only way to ensure everything you own such as property and personal possessions will be distributed according to your wishes. Without a Will, the Law decides where your possessions go, so having an up to date Will ensures peace of mind. Inheritance Tax legislation means that, if you don’t prepare properly, more of your estate than necessary may be taxed. (Legacies to registered charities like the CRT are free from tax.)

What difference will a legacy make to the CRT?

Gifts in Wills have allowed us to purchase threatened farms, increase populations of nationally declining species such as barn owls on our land, and educate the next generation about the important issues surrounding food, farming and the countryside. Currently legacies account for approximately 80 per cent of our annual income and are the reason we are able to do our important work.

Nature is integral to good farming. This is a philosophy we’re putting into practice at over 2,000 acres of working farms, small-holdings, and woodland. We are steward to 17 properties across the UK, each with its own approach to sensitive land management, conservation projects and nature-friendly farming practices, all aimed at reversing the decline in biodiversity.

Our farms are diverse. Some are already models of nature-friendly farming, while others have ambitious plans and work underway to increase their ecology.

If you already have a Will it is important to review it regularly to confirm it reflects your current wishes. You may need to update your Will following major events such as births, marriage, deaths, buying or selling property or a change in financial circumstances. You can make small changes or additions to a Will using a Codicil. This is an instruction that is added to your existing Will, and needs to be witnessed in the same way.

Next steps
