FAQ - The Grain Barn Who can rent the units? The CRT is seeking tenants who will complement the existing artisan businesses at the Old Dairy. Your business will preferably involve a manual skill, especially one that involves making or renovating things by hand. To qualify under planning rules, your unit use must be either for office space or light industrial work. When will the units be ready for use? The Grain Barn will be complete by early 2026. If you apply and are successful, we’ll keep you up to date with the project’s progress. The length of any lease is open for discussion and flexible. What will the rent be? Rental costs will be in line with typical market rates. The deposit required depends on the tenancy terms negotiated. Market rents for similar commercial units, as of summer 2025, are in the range of £12-£14/sq ft per annum. Tenders will be invited following viewing days. What other charges am I responsible for? There is no additional service charge associated with the units, but each unit has a sub-meter, so you pay your own utility bills (electricity and water). You will also pay for your own telephone and other standard business charges, such as business rates and insurance. Broadband will be recharged at an agreed fixed cost per month. Are there any restrictions on business opening hours? Tenants can use their units between 8am and 8pm daily, excluding Sundays and Bank Holidays. How do I apply to rent a unit?
