We’re delighted to announce that Bere Marsh Farm, near Shillingstone in Dorset, has become a new Nature Buddies host site in partnership with Dorset National Landscape.

The Nature Buddies initiative, made possible thanks to a grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, is coordinated by the Dorset National Landscape team.

It works with local organisations, including the Countryside Regeneration Trust (CRT), to create opportunities for people to experience the benefits of spending time in nature.

At Bere Marsh Farm, the CRT’s team and volunteers are passionate about welcoming people of all ages and abilities to enjoy the countryside, learn about wildlife and farming, and support their mental and physical wellbeing.

Hannah, our Estate Manager at Bere Marsh Farm, said the partnership is a perfect fit.

“A lot of people come to us for a bit of fresh air and exercise and say it’s better than going to a gym. It’s good to be out and about and great for everyone’s physical and mental health,” she said.

“We are all about getting people into nature, understanding wildlife and farming, and seeing the wellbeing benefits that brings.”

Kate Townsend, Stepping Into Nature Project Coordinator, said: “We’re thrilled that Bere Marsh Farm has joined us as a Nature Buddy host site.

“The Nature Buddies programme is all about supporting people to get out into the landscape to boost their wellbeing, especially those who may face barriers to doing so, and Bere Marsh Farm offers the perfect setting to take those first steps.

“As well as being a beautiful site to visit, for me what shines through is that it’s a place where people are genuinely welcomed. Hannah and her dedicated team of volunteers bring such warmth and enthusiasm, fully embracing the Nature Buddies ethos of helping people connect with nature in ways that feel right for them.”
