Using Nature for healing at Bere Marsh Farm We all know how much better we feel when we spend time outdoors and how it not only helps our physical health but also our mental health. At Bere Marsh Farm in Dorset, we warmly invite you to visit and experience for yourself how time in nature can make life that little bit better. We have beautiful spaces across the farm where we can offer a wide range of activities and we’re always happy to tailor sessions to suit the specific needs of a group. We also have our wonderful cafe, The Buzz, open on Fridays and run by our volunteers. Here are just some of the opportunities available: Walking routes to support pain management, fitness, and wellbeing Nature journalling at the Angela Hughes Nature Reserve Volunteering with our friendly, regular volunteer groups Sketching sessions at the Angela Hughes Nature Reserve or Ham Down Guided, buggy-friendly social walks for new parents Support from Dorset’s Nature Buddy Network to help people feel more confident connecting with the landscape Charlotte Weatherley, our Farm Estate and Community Officer at Bere Marsh, explains: “We offer a range of activities designed to support people’s health, both mental and physical. Time in nature has proven benefits, from reducing stress and anxiety to improving mood, focus, and resilience. Social prescribing is a growing health practice where people are encouraged to take part in community and nature-based activities to boost both mental and physical wellbeing. “Being outdoors can also boost cardiovascular health, strengthen the immune system through increased vitamin D, and provide a real sense of fulfilment and connection with others." Charlotte will also be sharing more about social prescribing at Bere Marsh Farm during the Vale PCN Wellbeing Fair on September 19, from 1–5pm.
