For just one day a year, the semi-ancient woodland and pasture at Margaret Wood in Upper Denby opens to visitors to admire its spectacular carpet of bluebells.
Margaret Wood bursts into life each spring with a spectacular carpet of bluebells - and it's one of our favourite times of the year!
The wood will be open on Saturday, May 2nd from 10.30am to 3.30pm for people to enjoy this 32-acre hidden gem.
New this year, there will be a selection of craft stalls to enjoy; from home decor, gifts and jewellery, to hoodies, t-shirts and personalised wooden engraving, as well as tea, coffee, cake and a chat with CRT representatives.
Visitors will be able to enjoy a marked trail through the woodland, perfect for soaking in the peaceful surroundings and spotting wildlife. Light refreshments will be available by donation, and the day will be hosted by the CRT’s dedicated team of volunteers.
The open day offers a rare opportunity to explore Margaret Wood, which remains closed to the public for the rest of the year.
Volunteer manager Leslie Hackett, who will be at the event, said: “Margaret Wood is a truly special place. The annual open day gives visitors the opportunity to appreciate its beauty, enjoy the peaceful surroundings, and see the stunning bluebells in bloom.”
“We’re delighted to be offering a range of stalls this year for people to explore and enjoy.”
Please note: Due to limited parking, visitors are kindly asked to arrive on foot. No booking required, just turn up and join us on the day.
