Join our free creative sessions connecting you to the wildlife and landscape of Bere Marsh Farm

For experienced ‘creatives’ or those at the beginning of their creative journey, these informal sessions let you explore your writing, drawing and thinking skills, and help you form a picture of the wildlife and flowers here, and what we (and you) are doing to support the work of the Countryside Regeneration Trust.

Led by Farm estate and community officer Charlotte, each week starts a new theme, and sometimes, we will use real-world information from the wildlife and wildflower surveys undertaken each week by our team of volunteers. No need to book, just turn up on the day.

The Buzz Café will be open selling tea, coffee and soft drinks as well as delicious cakes made by our CRT volunteers.

  • Saturday 2nd May - Moths and their Names: Flame Shoulder and the Dingy Footman. This fun writing session uses Butterfly Conservation’s A-Z of moth names to create, invent and play with the meaning of moth names, which are as fascinating as the moths themselves.

  • Saturday 16th May Nature Poet. 'Although we wounded it, if we tread more lightly now, perhaps the land will let us stay.’ from ‘This Patch of Land’ by Louisa Adjoa Parker. Use Louisa Adjoa Parker’s line as a prompt for thinking and writing about nature and our relationship with it.

  • Saturday 30th May - (self-led) sketch session in the Nature Reserve. Capture the colour, shape, and essence of the season; share your sketches if you want, after the session.

  • Saturday 6th June - Restorative circle in nature. Restorative practice thinks: what’s happened / what's the impact / what's next? Using these key questions, join this listening circle and explore ways of dealing with inner conflicts and polarizing issues around the natural world.
  • Saturday 13th June - Art from the Farm. Using natural objects found across the farm, create your own piece of art. Take photos and share them, then leave your artwork to dissolve back into the landscape.

  • Saturday 20th June - Restorative circle in nature (take two). Restorative practice thinks: what’s happened / what's the impact / what's next? Using these key questions, join this listening circle and explore ways of dealing with inner conflicts and polarizing issues around the natural world.

  • Saturday 27th June - BMF Nature Library: Found Nature Poetry. Using our extensive nature library, take sections of a book and, by choosing carefully, create a found nature poem; we have the option to read these aloud and discuss our choices afterwards. You are welcome to borrow books from our library.
